Alien Swarm - First Impressions and Video

Alien Swarm Is a Free to play game available to everyone now on the Steam platform for PC, Its a top-down-4-player-coop-action-shooter and offers a campaign with a variety of missions for you and your friends to run through.

One of the more common aliens you will encounter, The Drone
Borrowing heavily from Sci-fi alien films such as well, Aliens it has a good tense atmosphere and can deliver some pretty pulse pumping moments whether its the unsettling noise of the Motion tracker (ripped straight from the colonel marines) or being surrounded by the aliens and mashing the rightclick button to riflesmash your way out of there .

It also includes character progression, levels gained through killing monsters and completing missions as well as unlocking new more effective firepower, items and powerups to help you succeed in your fight against the swarm and its plethora of nasties ranging from the common drone to things much nastier.

Take a look at the gameplay and watch me and Leest attempt the first level.

Overall I enjoyed the time we spent playing it and cant wait to pick it back up and complete the main storyline. Although the number of missions do bother me with asofyet only having the main campaign comprise of about 8 levels. Heres hoping the community modding and tinkering could heed more suprises for this little free gem of a game. So to conclude.....

....TRY IT OUT NOW WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?, GO SHOOT STUFF!

Til' next time.

CS:GO - First Impressions and Video

"OK, Lets GO"
I've recently been gifted the latest instalment in the famous n00bshooter Counter-strike, Having only played a few rounds I thought I would give my initial thoughts and feelings and also present you guys with a little video of what its like.

Although that may be the problem, if any of you have actually played a counterstrike game you will be right at home here. Why you ask?

It's pretty much the SAME GAME it's always been, and this isn't necessarily a criticism but so far I have been able to find one new game mechanic, apart from a small tazer zappy gun that now replaces knife rounds. (Don't taze me BRO).

Wait a minute...
Now this isn't me saying I don't like it, but I think me and a host of other fans were looking for something a little more modern, perhaps some new maps and some game play or animation refinements rather then just a few tweaks to the visuals and some guns like the Bizon. We still have the same old stiff hands while holding your weapon and the hostages still stand around like lemmings when the person leading them to safety dies.

"Hey, we'll you slow down and possibly get caught behind a corner or sumthin', LETS GO"

Anyways, enough babbling check it out for yourselves and watch me suck really quite hard.

So to close out, I feel that overall this isn't offensive to what came before In fact it almost seems that It's too afraid to change from what they know already works. There was a lot of potential for making this game a blockbuster, one to burn out the fire of respawn happy games like Call of Duty and Battlefield but at the moment its more of a homage and graphical update to the game they made in 2004.

Here's looking to the updates to give us veterans (even if they do suck at it right now) a new map or mode that isnt Gungame.

League of Legends: Pwnage Update #3 Flawless Victory

Hey guys, Its been a while since I posted my usual prattle on the Free to Play game League of Legends, while last time I promised more videos, personal commitment issues have meant that thus far the only recording of a game I got ended in it cutting out halfway through. (>.<)
Rengar
Diana

So there has been two major updates recently, one being the release of Diana the Scorn of the Moon and Rengar the Pridestalker.  Both in my opinon excellent champions and I absolutely love the nods to the Predator films with the champion design of Rengar.(Infared vision, Stealth, Strikes from the jungle and Trophy collections). Meaning there will be alot of "GET TO DE CHOPPAH" quotes from myself while playing as him.

Look at Rengar's alternate skin and tell me it doesnt scream Predator the moment you look at him, remember if it bleeds. we can kill it.

So anyway on with the update.

Here instead is a quickly editted JPEG showing off my 100% win ratio in the past week or so :D

Knowing this game I'm sure I'll get put with a gimp team in my next match, but until then It's getting posted up here to be recorded for the rest of time.

I WILL TRY AND RECORD SOMETHING LATER, theres been alot of talk about DC's Catwoman on various peoples blogs lately so maybe I'll jump on Arkham City and record some Challenge Maps.

League of Legends: Pwnage Update #2

VIDEOS AND SHINY THINGS :I

So yeah, heres my first recordings of my little league addiction. Here I am playing as Jayce one of the newest Champions to be added tothe league and definitely in my opinon one of the funnest to control.

"Daanaanernaanaa Naa Naa Naa"

He reminds me of superman for some reason, in his normal costume anyway. He is primarily a AD (attack damage) carry, but I play him as a bruiser toplane and have found that he can be a nasty counter to alot of toplane regulars.

Well without further adieu here it is...

Oh wait, the black box around the cursor has been fixed and hopefully shouldnt rear its ugly head again.

OH, AND! it is now in HD for all you resolution lovers. Sit back enjoy the awesome DaftPunk Reconfigured album and take a look!

SPOILERS!

I end up going 12/5/12, overall not bad! and against darius so go me!

My Trip to the National Theatre

THE NATIONAL THEATRE
 MARVEL...at this jpeg...
 National theatre trip

The backstage trip to the National Theatre was an all round enjoyable and facinating experience that I would reccomend anyone whos intrested in anything from theatre itsself to film production to take a look at, you really get a sense of how these fantastical productions are brought to the big stage. I myself didn't realise the preparation and effort but most of all the  amount of people who work backstage at the National theatre (over 1000?!? it still amazes me) and this for me was an eye-opening experience. Personal highlights would have been Learning about the stage elevalator from the 70's that could move sets was an incredible feat of engineering for its time as well as visiting the props room to see all the old props from different productions (I had always wondered what a props room would be like, I was not left dissapointed).  As well as seeing where they build the set backdrops, being able to see how they went from a model of a house to the finished article was very pleasing and my questions were answered throughly at this point by our charming guide. Any criticism I would have would be slight and would be that we didn't see anything like changing rooms for the stars of the shows (but due to the group size I know this would proabably be impossible) apart from that I found it a wholly educational experience and would think it would benefit anyone from an apprentice like me to just your fanatic theatre fan.
Also NT live is very interesting, take a look at their website to check out how they are bringing Theatre into the 10's!

Talking about NT live

The meeting with the Head of Art and the Head of Digital was really engaging they showed us how they were taking the age old practice of theatre and breathing new, digital life into it, using NT live in such a way that it allowed the form of theatre itself to be untouched but also distribute it via the internet and other methods to a much, MUCH wider audience. I can only applaud the vision and direction of this team to take Theatre to cinemas around the world to such a grand and well recieved reception as truely, a stroke of genius. The NT live team seem to have alot of ideas and insight into their industry and ways to adapt it into this modern technological world. I thought in particular the idea of creating online events for anniversarys of bigger shows streamed live through the internet was the most tantilising idea (to myself at least) even if that was only in its infancy. All in all I was impressed at the depth of how much they knew who their audience was and the best ways digitally and artistically to get these products to them without damaging or putting in jepordy the experience of theatre itself..

Also Adsense sucks.

If anyone was wondering why I no longer bang on about the greatness of Adsense or why my blog is no longer filled with adverts of cheap free games to play this is due to having my monetise features on my blog disbabled due to "potential malicious clicking".....That's right. MALICIOUS.

Even Picard is PISSED!
So BOO to Adsense for not being able to distinguish people helping out a blogger to gain acclaim and an influx due to a new blog with the word sent out amongst their peers and YAY to free content, art prevailing and all that other stuff.....My wallet hurts...

So Biff says to Luke Skywalker....

Back to the future is awesome. It's a stone cold fact. Ask anyone....seriously...go ahead... I'll wait right here.
....Ok thats established and we are all agreed. Good.

"Vulcan nerve pinch!"

Star Wars (at the very least the orginals, even though I love the prequels *more on that later!*) Is also AWESOME!
anyone who doesn't at least appriciate the impact this sci-fi series had on cinema is a liar and charlatan.

The mere mention of this series makes you irresistable to women *results may vary*

So using simple basic maths:

Awesome BTTF + Awesome SW =  See Below

Adsense...Makes sense...

I am approved for Adsense advertising. YES!

Feel free to check out my latest gamble for money! *clicky clicky* *on the sides and at the bottom* *....maybe?*

For all you potential Bloggers this means I have given up space dedicated to advestising ( handled through google ad's at first ) allowing me to ( hopefully! ) aquire currency on the things that I blog. Athough this does hit a soft spot morally on whether or not I should be advesting and that perhaps I am now off the artistic scale forever, I've come to convince myself that hey, all this content is going to be free and this can only add incentive to make sure that I am providing my future fanbase with the best content availble.

And that can't be a bad thing....Right?

Banners, AHOY!

Just a quick update that my friend Sean Golding has started work on a tasty custom banner for my blog.

And now for your indulgence I thought it would be nice to upload a piece of concept work for a character we designed together for our upcoming graphic novel, just so you can see what he can do. Exciting!!!
